English Proficiency Tests

TOEFL and IELTS are both used for testing English proficiency skills and both contain 4 main parts (listening, reading, writing, and speaking). These days, most schools accept both TOEFL and IELTS for their application. Still, the structures of the exams are different in many aspects and applicants should pick the one they are more accustomed to. This depends on your English foundation. For instance, if you are already good in English, you only need to learn the structure of the exams and how to score well in each sections. But, if you need to improve both your English skills and test taking skills, it requires much longer time to score well. Not only that, it depends on what scores you need to get – TOEFL 80/120 is enough for many programs but some programs require applicants to get as high as 110/120. The higher the scores, the longer time you need to practice.
